Today, I’m a Master Intuitive, Medium and Practical Spirituality Teacher, and I get to help people every day with my intuition and spiritual gifts.
I also take time to tune into myself and strive to be an example to show that it’s possible to access personal power, inner peace and create your spirit’s ideal life by developing and honoring your intuitive spirituality.
It wasn’t always like this, though.
When I first started exploring my path as a reader and spirit-worker, I developed my skills in psychic development classes just for fun, and I often doubted my gifts even when my visions were accurate.
I had dabbled with tarot cards as a teenager, but these classes took the concept of readings to a whole new level!
If I was just closing my eyes and seeing things that were accurate for other people, where was the information coming from?!
I battled cynicism, skepticism and had a few weird spirit encounters before I finally had faith that this stuff was real. I even started to understand “how” it all works (in as much as a human being can understand such mysteries, anyway…)
Quite simply, I began to realize that when we’re consciously connected to all-that-is (aka: Source, or a higher power), we’re connected to everyone and everything that-is (or was, or will be).
Though we walk around in separate bodies, we’re all made of eternal energy and thereby made one by energetic connections… and when we get focused enough, that unifying energy can be read just like words on a page.
I also learned along the way that Spirit speaks to the human mind through a number of internal senses often referred to as “The Clairs”.
When I first began developing my psychic ability and intuition, my primary mode of receiving information was visual. I would come to know this way of connecting to my inner voice and the Spirit World as “Clairvoyance” (or Clear-Seeing).
When I practiced reading other people, I’d close my eyes to get quiet and watch for pictures to gently emerge in my mind’s eye. It often felt like a dream, and yet I was fully awake. As I continued honing this spiritual gift into a skill over the course of several years, my clairvoyance began to feel like second nature even though it still constantly surprised me.
It no longer took more than a few moments to “see” visions for other people and translate what I saw into a meaningful message.
One time, I saw the interior of a woman’s home and her favorite place to sit and daydream. She confirmed everything from the houseplants and pets to the music and candles. She said she had been stressed from working too much and the vision had reminded her to slow down and re-connect.
Another time, I was practicing mediumship and a mother on the other side asked me to describe a locket she left to her daughter, who was sitting in front of me. In the following class, the daughter showed up wearing the locket and feeling more at peace about her mother’s passing. The necklace was identical to what I had seen in my mind’s eye.
But of all the experiences I’ve had, the way clairvoyance has blown me away the most is when I practiced drawing Spirit Portaits, which is the art of drawing loved ones on the other side as they come through to give a message. I was shocked at how similar a photograph would look to the portrait I had previously drawn of a person who was no longer here on earth and whom I’d never met.
It was so wonderful to get confirmation that I truly could “see” for others, as each and every reading felt like a leap of faith. I had no conscious idea of what was going to come out of my mouth (or flow from my pencil), and each session was a lesson that taught me to trust that my connection to a higher power through my guides was strong and they would not let me down.
And as ironic as it is, I trusted the visions I received for others loooong before I trusted them for my own life. For some reason I thought being a Psychic or Intuitive meant that my gift was something I could only give away but not use for myself. How dis-empowering is THAT?
While it’s true that it’s harder to see the things for ourselves that we don’t want to see, it is possible to get clear guidance from within when you can tell the difference between your intellectual thoughts, your instinct to stay comfortable and your spiritual intuition.
Have you ever wanted something so badly for yourself (say… a lot of money, a new relationship, a better job, to “fix” a loved one, take a vacation or have more activity in your life?) and you put it out there in the universe and nothing came of it?
If so, it’s likely you were trying to guide your life from your intellectual self, who only thinks it knows what will make your Spirit happy, or the instinctual self who fears missing out.
So often, these parts of us looks to what once brought happiness, what others find impressive, what the culture / media / other people say will make us happy (and so on)… instead of going within and asking that still, small voice what it truly wants and needs in the moment.
And no matter how much we try to override it, it always knows what’s best, because it’s our essential nature. It’s who-we-are beneath all other identities.
I remember when parts of me pined for a partner in times when my Spirit craved only the peace of solitude. I also used to kick and scream to have my own business even though my Spirit knew I needed to develop more financial security (and personal maturity) in a corporate job first. Then, there was that time when I wished other people would step into their power and peace so I could step into mine while my Spirit continually told me I must move forward no matter what anyone else was saying or doing.
My Spirit was eventually ready for that partner (and he was ready for me). It also challenged me to take the leap into my business when the time was right (because of course, at that point, my instinct was terrified to do it!). And it was not until my thoughts and fears stopped waiting for the world to change that Spirit showed me how to find my own source of peace and power despite anyone else’s choices (because that's actually the only real doorway to inner peace for any of us).
So you see, our conscious minds have lots of ideas about how reality is, how it should be, what needs to happen (and when) in order for us to feel aligned to peace and wellbeing. And yet, our spiritual selves, tapped into each other and the source that connects us, knows way better.
Its map extends throughout time and space and through each of us. And with faith and trust, we can be divinely guided by visions that come from our inwardly focused selves instead of the outwardly facing ones.
So, in what way are your ordinary visions clouding your spiritual ones right now? There’s always something, believe me. And you are not alone in this!
For fun, just fill in these blanks with regards to your own life (or allow yourself to rant about whatever is bothering you most at home, at work, in your relationships or even the world):
I really want (event) _________________________ to happen in (area of life)_______________________________. Because, if only this would change, I would feel so (quality of emotion)_____________________________.
Now, close your eyes and take a deeeeep breath. Then take a couple more….
Place your dominate hand on your heart and ask yourself this:
”What is it within myself that needs the most clarity or healing so that I can feel at peace in this situation?”
When the answer comes, place your other hand on your third eye (forehead) and ask Spirit:
“Show me a vision that will help to heal and clarify this issue within me. What is to be said and done (or not) for the highest and best benefit of myself and all concerned?”
Make a note in your journal or keep it on the fridge to remind you that you have found this clarity. When the physical evidence arrives to show you that Spirit knows best, you'll be more likely to look within more often in the future.
Allow it to sink in and release the need to interject your own visions into Spirit’s advice. It is the greatest gift and it works if we work it!
