I’m writing this note to you as I sit beside a lake.
The sun is setting and birds are all around, preening and hunting for dinner before the chill of night rolls in.
While the ducks and ibises fight for the best position on the rocks, a majestic egret stands still before me. She is completely still as she watches the water.
She doesn’t seem to care about not fitting in with the others. She’s also unfazed by the presence of chattering humans. Her game is one of peace, observation and precision. The way she is just being brings me such solace. She doesn’t waste time fighting for position or hunting in water that holds nothing for her. And sure enough, she flies away to the next lake the moment something within her whispers “time to go”.
It’s been a wild year on planet earth, that’s for sure. I won’t go into specifics because, well, I bet you’ve noticed too. And now that the Christmas season is upon us, I find myself contemplating Christ consciousness and what that means for you and me as our spirits mature through this lifetime.
Although I consider myself a bit of a spirit rebel, claiming no religion while honoring all paths to the Divine, I still have a special place in my heart for Christ consciousness.
Much like the egret standing still amongst the tumultuous crowd, Christ is usually described as a living message of wisdom, peace and divine connection in an ordinary world of suffering and illusion.
My guides have told me over and over again that we are here to discover ourselves as sparks of the Divine in human clothing. They say that we are all extensions of a loving Source and can uplift and heal each other instead of relating to each other through fear, comparison and judgment. It’s all a matter of choice and commitment to what matters most to us at the core.
Our biggest problem is that we have forgotten this.
Christ, being the cool and very aware guy that he was, always remembered.
And he knew it was his mission to be an example to those around him, even if that meant being persecuted for using his spiritual gifts and holding a peace that threatened the powers that be. Come to think of it, that may be ultimate lesson for us to learn from this “Prince of Peace”.
Our inner world is in perpetual conflict between the desire to have power (over our environment and others) and the desire for peace and love. And the one that you choose to dedicate your conscious thoughts to will dictate the quality of your life in each and every moment.
The darkness of conflict and competition come from primal parts of ourselves that struggled to survive long ago. Back then, we needed this part of us. But now, this old programming only causes us to suffer by creating problems that aren’t there and seeing everything that is not like us as a dangerous threat.
What if the key to creating a better world was to embrace that divine spark within so much that we are unfazed by the primal discord that surrounds us?
What if those of us who see through this stuff came here to help show the way by living by example, not by feeling like victims in a harsh and uncaring dimension?
Spiritual intuition is your direct line to the source of your peace and plenty.
And there is true power in your sensitivity.
Within this sensitivity lives the wisdom of all the great teachers, mystics and messengers that have walked the earth in the name of making it a better place.
It’s also the same intelligence that keeps the egret peaceful and precise in a crowded urban park.
My wisdom boost for you this week is to be like my Egret friend who reminds me of the gentle strength of Christ consciousness...
Don’t worry if you don’t fit in with the others. Hold your peaceful ground in the presence of difficult people. Play the game of peace, observation and intuitive precision. Practice being (and giving) more than doing (or taking). Don’t waste time fighting for position or seeking sustenance in spaces that hold nothing for you. And finally, when something within tells you “time to go”, move on.
Let your presence be an example of the world you want to live in.
In other words… “Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with you and me…”
Happy Holidays, my friend.
Thank you for reading and allowing me to be of continued service to your spirit!
