You may be familiar with the phrase “Just let it go”.
And, if you’re like me, you know it’s true and yet at some points in life you may still kick and scream about it... asking big questions like “HOW do I do it?” or “WHY do I have to?”. While there are as many ways to let go as there are souls on this planet, and the reasons why it’s important may always remain a mystery to our conscious minds… I still want to share some things that may help you along on your path of intuitive living as you learn to let go of things both big and small, allowing the voice of your spirit to guide you into higher and better views with each step you take.
It’s November, after all – and this is the time of year in which plants release their leaves to conserve energy through the chilly season ahead. Because of this process of release, new life will be created. New leaves will sprout abundantly to celebrate the promise of Spring. But first, release and rest must occur.
The same is true for us as spiritual beings. The intuitive life force that runs through us is the same intelligence that runs through the plants and trees, informing them that it’s time to let go of what drains them. If we’re going with our innate flow, we’ll do our best to follow that intuition and reap the benefits. When we fight it, we’ll certainly tire ourselves out and even make ourselves sick in the process.
Keep reading to find out the first thing you must release in order to keep your energy high as you nurture intuitive and spiritual growth in the next year.*
*While many feel January is the time to set a new course, it can actually be difficult to do without preparing yourself and clearing the slate before it gets here. Before you plant new seeds, take time to harvest and till the soil…
STEP #1 IN THE PROCESS OF LETTING GO
Release worry and judgment from your thoughts.
Look close enough at the privacy of your own mind, and you will probably find consistent thoughts that stress you out or depress you, even if they are never actually helpful. If you feel anxious and don’t have a concrete reason, go into silence and see what your self-talk has been doing to your sense of well-being. I’m willing to bet it often tells you that life is hard, you never have enough time, you can’t handle everything you need to do, this world is in trouble, people are difficult or something else that puts your inner world on the defense. When your thoughts are telling you that our environment is stressful, your body responds by pumping stress hormones and preparing you to fight, freeze or flee. Without the release of these hormones through physical exertion, you will experience it as an underlying anxiety that creates nervousness, sleeplessness and general overwhelm. And if you’re not generating this anxiety first hand, you may be absorbing the energy from others.
And guess what? if this is consistently happening without any conscious clearing of your mind and body the small, still voice of your inner wisdom doesn't have much chance of being heard.
If worry and judgment have been overriding your clarity lately, try this: Release thoughts that don’t serve you by replacing them by ones that do. Consult oracle tools to get a higher perspective (and trust that perspective). Acknowledge your fear and your intellect’s desire to help keep you safe by staying in worry and judgment and then state that you choose to know that you have enough time, you can handle all the things, this world is what you make of it and everyone is doing their best with this human experience in their own way.
If you’re still having trouble settling your mind, move your body through exercise and bring that mental energy down a few notches. You’ll feel more relaxed, trust your inner guidance and sleep better when you’ve released that stress the old-fashioned way. To intensify the effects of mindset changes and physical release, clear your energy each day with mindful breathing, meditation, Reiki, Qi-gong, yoga, meditative walking, art, or any other practice intended to align you to your inner peace, where your intuition can be heard loud and clear.
As I always say, we take a shower and brush our teeth each day… why would we not need to cleanse our thoughts and energy as well? Feel clear from the inside out. This week, focus on releasing worries and judgments that no longer serve you.
